I had Started A Hair Diary On May 2, 2011, But I will be Doing My Journey Here as of Now on, So i am going to blog all of what i had written so far, then just continue here after.

MAY 02,2011
Did a semi-dust today. I did cornrows straight back and then used my Annie hair scissors to dust the ends of each cornrow. I also mixed aloe vera, infusium 23 and water in my mister to use as a leave-in. I sealed with Creme of Nature Argan Oil spray.

NOTES

For present style= cornrows. Spray with aloe vera and infusium leave-in, then seal with Creme of Nature Argan Oil. Wear du-rag to bed at night. When going on the road use a beanie to cover the back...cause it doesn't look right. lol.

HAIR CONDITION AT PRESENT DATE

Texlaxed on Friday, April 29 2011 and that seems to have made my hair a lot more susceptible to breakage. Can't believe I texlaxed after being natural for 10 months. Fairy knots made me cave-in. Makes my end easier to manage though. So I need to get back it's strength, then my hair will be growing like weed :) I will be dusting my hair every two months until December ; then I will decide if i want to keep doing that or adjusting to a wider time frame.

Vitamins(supplements being taken)

1.GNC High Potency Biotin 5000 mcg
2. One-a-Day Womens
3.Seven Seas Fish Oil

I intend to try out a silica supplement.

FUTURE HAIR PLANS

I plan to practice protective styling as often as possible, because I am aiming to grow my hair as long as possible, and as healthy as possible. My hair is not yet able to be caught in one properly; much more to be put in a bun. So, my current protective styles will be cornrows with the ends pinned up, wash and goes with headbands(need to find silk headbands before i do that often, seeing that the ones I have at the moment snag my hair), and that's it until my hair gets longer. When doing wash and goes as my protective style, I will wash my hair once that week with Creme of Nature Detangling Conditioning shampoo and while doing cornrows I will wash my hair on that month, unless I break it with wash and goes.

NOTES

1. Aloe makes my hair shed less and gives it great moisture.
2. Infusium 23 makes my hair strong.
3. Creme of Nature Argan oil gives my hair great shine, is very light and SMELLS AWESOME!
4. Hello Hydration Conditioner is very conditioning and smells really great, especially when sealed with the argan oil in wash and goes.
5.My wash and goes can be refreshed everyday by just spraying with conditioner and water mixed, finger styling, the sealed with argan oil.

(NEED A BOTTLE OF EVCO FOR DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT)

6. I am going to start deep conditioning with keracare essential oils and a shower cap before shampoos; until i get my EVCO.
7. When dusting, I will only dust the tips of my cornrows which will be done from the front of my head straight back to my nape against my scalp. I want to eventually have a bob cut when all my hair has grown down past my neck.

TODAYS CHALLENGE

Keep present cornrows until the 20th of May.

May 3,2011

NOTE ADJUSTMENT

Deep condition AFTER shampooing, not before, then rinse and style.

1. Sprayed cornrows with aloe, water and infusium 23 mix, then sealed with Creme of Nature Argan oil. I am in the house today so i retied it with my du-rag which i slept in last night.

My cornrows seem to look neat as long I keep spraying, sealing and tying them down daily.

(BEANIES NEEDED, WHETHER i AM GOING TO MAKE THEM OR BUY THEM)

STYLE IDEAS

1. Stylish cornrows to the side with curly faux pony. I might try it one day.
2. Plaits(as large as can be done) with ends rodded. Air dry for about a day, then pull it out gently with some oil and "head-band" (protective style).

NOTES

To secure hair, interlock two hairpins in opposite directions.

HAIR THOUGHTS

I feel a bit better about my hair now, because it is no longer "boyish", I just have two desires now:
1. For my hair to grow thick and healthy.
2. For it to grow to waist length.

After that, Longer if possible (not pushing it). I plan to achieve this over a long term period, by clipping the very ends of my hair (1-2cm) every 2 months only in the back. I have done this once so far and it will be due again on July 2 2011. I do not intend to clip anymore than that. Just dusting. I am aware that by doing this, eventually the back of my hair will have it's fully natural texture, while the top ends might be a bit texlaxed, until the hair is all even. What i may do is whne a layer at the bottom becomes fully natural, i will part it out and and continue the process on the rest of the hair. I will only do this if the texture difference is obvious.

NOTE

Cornrow are now a bit slack in the back, I have to ensure that I sleep with the du-rag on everynight and not be too touchy-feely with my hair. Going to spray the cornrows with aloe and infusium mix, seal with argan oil and then use the du-rag and the tam to see if I will get a greenhouse effect :O

May 04 2011

Did the usual this morning with a little extra. I sprayed my cornrows with aloe, infusium and water mist. After that I tried out a new product on my edges, Ampro style n jam..kind oily. I then sealed my hair ends with the argan oil mister. Threw my rd beanie on and I was out of the house.

HAIR CONDITION AT PRESENT DATE

The condition of my hair is basically the same as yesterday. The cornrows are slack. But if I keep touching to a minimum and cover my hair as often as possible, it will get to May 20th mark. The beanie and the cornrows look quite cute actually, as I think I had mentioned before.

NOTES

For deep conditioning treatments, try coconut milk instead of the oil to see if it can be a good substitute.

May 09, 2011

Well...The cornrows didn't last till the 20th. For that matter, it only lasted until May 05, reason being they were too mushy , unraveling and not very attractive looking. I plan to have another cornrow challenge though...In the mean time my hair is in a wash n go right now. I co-wash, defined and sprayed with argan oil while wet. Not sure if this specific wash n go method works long term yet, but i will see. Just started Monday, I am not sure if water can provide enough moisture . My headbands were ripping out my hair, so I stopped using them. I cut th ties off of my du-rag to make a head-tie. It works, but now i have to get another du-rag :(

LENGTH CHECK

I think the longest part of my hair right now is 4 inches.I am not cutting a bit off of it, until maybe July 02. But at this moment I think I might be postponing that date. Maybe until December 02?

May 10, 2011

This morning misted my hair with my usual, then instead of using The Creme of Nature Argan Oil mister to seal, I used the Keracare essential oil instead. After that i used ampro styling gel to put my hair into a high puff like thing, my head band stopped about 2 inches from my hair line.

May 11, 2011

Sprayed my hair with water, rubbed some keracare essential oil in, then brushed it up in that semi puff thing again with the ampro styling gel.

Haven't washed my hair since May 09, will try not to wash it until Saturday,May 14. I will just keep refreshing this style until then. Might keep doing this every week, it's low manipulation.
The cornrows are too, but my hair tends to break while doing them. Need a softer brush for smoothing though The brown brush i have feels very course on my hair. Can't wait to get some length, at least it is ALMOST able to be caught in one when i use styling gel.

NOTE

I will keep using the du-rag strings until they deteriorate(lol), they actually look good, keep my hair well and best of all don't snag.

May 16 2011

Cornrowed the front of my hair yesterday(Sunday),then put medium sized plaits in the back. I used hairpins to secure the plaits from my neck(protective style). The pinned up plaits look a little funny, so I will cover them with my beanie(need to get different colors like black, blue, black n pink and red n pink). It looks good and the cornrows to the front look nice. I call them freestyles, because there was no plan to them. Should do freestyle cornrows more often...I will.

The last two times I washed my hair, I did co-washes with Hello Hydration conditioner. I have started using an applicator bottle to oil my scalp with Keracare essential oils.I will do it every night as of now and adjust as needed in the near future, if necessary.

<3 LOVE <3 my Tangle Teezer a.k.a TT

Still May 16, 2011

Bought a new product today at the pharmacy in Winchester Business Center that I am extremely excited about. It's Taliah Waajids Protective Bodifying Mist Medicated Formula. The front says it stops itching & minor scalp irritations, moisturizes & conditions, soothes scalp on contact, softens for manageability and coats hair & stops breakage...cool huh? I'm really excited about it. Bought it for $832 +tax (Jamaican dollars). I will use it and document my experience. Forgot to mention that it smells awesome! This very sweet smell with a hint of coconut.

May 31 2011

Haven't written here in awhile. So, there's a few updates.

1. Did my first henna treatment with Jamila Henna for hair on May 25, 2011(Wednesday). My hair strands got a bit thicker and my slightly bleached ends turned burgundy :0
2. Did my second henna treatment on May 29 (Sunday). Hair strand actually got even thicker and burgundy got a bit darker.
3. Started putting coconut oil with amla on y scalp also on the 29th of May, it's supposed to make hair grow faster. Just checking it out.
4, Wrapped the back of my hair for the first time yesterday, May 30, and secured the wrap with hair pins. The front is not able to be caught, so installed four cornrows there and pinned the ends onto th wrap.
5. The Taliah Waajid spray makes my scalp tingly and my hair feels so soft. I like it. But most of the time I use water to spray my hair and coconut oil (Parachute brand presently) to seal.

NEW REGIMEN

Sunday-detangle dry hair in sections with Tangle Teezer, then apply henna. After 4 or so hours, wash hen out with Creme of Nature detanglinng conditioning shampoo, then condition with Hello Hydration(thinking of switching over to Moisture milks strawberries and creme, seeing that it's cheaper and is said to work very well) then detangle again and allow to air dry. When hair is about 98% dry, create desired style for the week , ensuring to pin up any hair that come in contact with clothes.

NOTE

Heard putting a chopped onion in your shampoo makes your hair grow faster, wondering if I should try it.

NEW REGIMEN CONTINUED...

Mon- Fri- tie hair with du-rag at nights. Spray with water and coconut oil or Taliah Waajid mist in the morning and in the night.

Sat- wear loose hair with headband if so desired.

VITAMIN UPDATE

Still taking the GNC Biotin 5000 and the womens' One-a-Day. I ran out of sevenseas fish oil, plan to get it back soon. I ordered two bottles of horsetail grass(a form of silica). Will record the date I started. Some people claim to get like 2 inches of growth every month when taking horsetail. This!!!.....we shall prove or disapprove.

CURRENT HAIR CONDITION

Thicker ad stronger with not much shedding and breakage(that i am aware of).

HAIR ACCESSORIES TO GET

1.Banana Clip
2.Scarves
3.Headbands
4.Hats

CURRENT HAIR LENGTH

At the moment my hair length varies from 3 and a half inches to 4 and a half inches. Aiming to grow at least 2 and a half inches in the next 5 months(by October). So i will protective style each week until then.

OK!! So that is all I had wrote so far in the hair journal, and as of now, i will do all my journal entries on this blog. Thank you soo much for reading. Hope you will check for updates.I am aiming to update everyday :)
