Beautiful Earth Natural Hair Haven is Naturally the bomb (literally lol)
Guys I forgot to tell you that I think I found my hair-do home! I did my braids at Beautiful Earth Natural Hair Haven and I must say they are very knowledgeable about natural hair care, every god darn thing that went in my hair was natural and as you can see from my previous post, my braids were done well. They feel like an extension of me and were done just the way I wanted them.
The owner is a real cool person to be around and my experience was just great. I mean I don't want to praise the place too much... But if they deserve it why not right? From now on that will be my hair place. The only negative I can even think of was that the braids were initially too tight. But they worked themselves out in a few days and I am sure it was mainly because my scalp is ridiculously sensitive. Okay. I am out again, check out her page and see what I am talking about for yourself http://beautifulearthja.blogspot.com

My braids and their jewels
You guys probably want to kill me. I sure hope not though. I know I promised about a week ago to let you see my braids and I intend to keep that promise..despite how late I may be on doing that. Here they are. I took these today.
Here is the back and top
These are some jewels I made for them
and here is the full back view
I really do like the braids and I have bonded with the jewels in the past week...as silly as that may sound. Even Though the braids have not even been in for a full half a month, they have been through a lot!! A whole day of pool water and about 4 washes. You might be able to tell I am enjoying them.
I treat them just as much as I torture them though. I spray them every night with a mister I made of left over taliah waajid, water and amla infused coconut oil. So they are needless to say, very forgiving towards me for my actions. I should be pulling them out by the first of September (I initially planned for the 5th) because I will be starting a new growth group on K.I.S.S that will require me to submit a current hair pic, without any additions.

The Way Many of Our Women Think
This video is so true. Many black women see their natural form as a curse or forbidden, Wish they would break free from that mindset.

I pulled out the Baby Locs :(
For those who had read my last post you would have seen the urge expressed in my post to "do things " with my hair. Regular things like combing, washing etc. Especially washing, seeing that I really do love to wash my hair as Much as a fish loves to swim in water (more like has to, lol). Well...I pulled them out. It has been about a week since I had done that (apparently a long time since I have been on here too, sorry :/ ) and my hair is now in a protective style. A lazy one to go along with how I feel about my hair right now. To be descriptive; my hair is in two french twists to the back of my neck with a headband over them..cute with a touch of nerdy.
I pulled out the baby locs with mane n tail detangler and a shower comb and I must say that mane n tail detangler is just awesome! It made it soo easy to pull them out, even though to my surprise the roots of the locs had already started locking up after just two weeks since installment :O Yes the locs were doing well in their VERY young stage. It kinda sucks that I pulled them out and It took me about 2 days to do so, with many breaks in between.
You may be wondering how I feel since I have pulled them out and to be honest? I have mixed feelings. My problem is that I seem to want both worlds; loose long hair AND locs (smh). I love the look of locs, especially when styled . Not to mention the ease with which it grows and how they only get even more beautiful with each additional inch they get. The only downsides to me are the facts that: the initial start up can be a mental trial, they are permanent and you will be walking around with all your shed hairs.
But, on the other hand I love natural hair and the versatility it provides if the person knows how to deal with it. Your can be straight one day, wavy another and in an afro-style on yet another. There is so much your able to do with it. I didn't even mention the multiple braid styles available to rock. The only downsides here are: the maintenance can be tedious, growth may(or may not) be harder to achieve also due to maintenance and styling can take some time.
In short I will be stock between both worlds. If I get locs I will miss having free flowing hair and crave long natural loose hair. On the other hand If I get long natural hair, there will still be times when I will crave the unique beauty of hair locs. So you see that there is no satisfying myself fully in the hair department, lol.
So I a back on my previous transitioning journey and the only plans I have for my hair right now is to put in some Poetic Justice braids. I have someone in mind to do it. But when or if I get them done you will be updated with pictures...I promise.

Do you Miss Combing Your Hair?
I ask this question. Because Since yesterday I have been looking at my boar bristle brush and I miss running it through my hair. Then I started thinking about detangling my hair under the water and shaking it to define my curls....do the loc veterans miss these things (omit the curls in some cases)?...because I do an I am not even two weeks into my journey yet. In fact it is getting very tempting. Sigh...hope this is not another failed attempt. But my brush is calling me.
What if I was meant to be one of those people who completely adore locs. But does not have what it takes to attain them for myself? What if I am one of those who will pull out my mature locs many years later and have to nurse my hair back from loc stress due to missing loose hair? I am really starting to wonder. I would love to get some answers.

Funerals....and the rude ones
I hate funerals... for the obvious and other reasons. I had to see someone I used to sit and talk to about birds, life and religion lifeless in a casket..not cool at all. I cried when I saw him. But as soon as the disturbing sight was gone I was at the least visually composed. His funeral was so beautiful that I am sure he is now resting peace. The only thing I couldn't stand was the constant standing and sitting (believe me it was excessive).
As for my hair. I didn't do what I mentioned I would in the previous post, which was to wet it. I only tied it down and then in the morning I pinned back the front and left out the two above my ears to dangle. With some eyeliner, mascara and initial lip gloss(I never re-apply, smh)I got out of the house and was well received. But most importantly I was happy with what I saw in the mirror.
The actual state of the locs are a totally different topic. Many of them are only being saved by the interlocked roots. I am talking about like a half an inch of interlock on some with the ends fully unraveled, some feel like extremely loose locs right to the end and then there are the few (probably two) that are interlocked at the roots and have a plait at the end. A lot going on right? Yeah!
If I had a clone I would let her go through my hair and see what she can do. But I am not in the mood to feel around blindly right now. I have a good feeling to just try and keep them the way they are now until the roots are ready to be interlocked again...
Sorry no pics today. I was so busy I never got the chance to get batteries. Word to the wise; If your going to get a camera, just get one with a rechargeable. You won't realize it makes life easier..but it does. Take my word.
